The School for Christian Living and Serving is a ministry of the Reformed
Church in America
serving the churches in the lower Hudson Valley - especially
those in the Mid-Hudson Classis and the Orange Classis. The aim of the School is
to fulfill Christ’s command to “make disciples of all nations.”  We endeavor to offer
training for adults that will deepen their faith and equip them to use the gifts God has
given them for ministry within Christ’s Church.

The School was established in 1994 and has grown steadily since by offering a
consistent slate of courses. At the same time, the school has remained flexible
with a spiritual ear sensitively tuned to the clergy, laity, and ever changing
needs of the congregation in both areas. This has resulted in an ever broadening
range of Christian education courses offered for the serious student and also
for those people simply seeking additional knowledge on a particular Christian
subject.

The School for Christian Living and Serving is open and available to
Christians of all denominations. There are no academic prerequisites except for
those students on a study track to become preaching elders in a classis of the Reformed
Church in America.

Our History

Taken from “School Sowing Seeds For Revival”
by Emily Paulson

After an expression of a vision to the Orange Classis and Classis of
Mid-Hudson, the School for Christian Living and Serving was born. Mother Theresa
said that, with God and three pennies, she could do anything. We assembled an
eager school board of Pastors and laity from both classes and with great
excitement our first term started in April 1994.

The purpose of the School for Christian Living and Serving is to provide, in
a Reformed context, personal spiritual development and leadership training that
supports the local church. Certification will be given to those finishing
individual requirements in the areas of Christian education and youth, personal
spiritual development, serving and youth, personal spiritual development,
serving ministries, or church leadership.

Courses are taught at a community college level. Nominal tuition is charged,
but scholarships are available from congregations and from the school. We offer
certifications in 3 main concentrations: Christian Education and Youth Ministry;
Personal Spiritual Development and Consistory and Congregational Leadership.
